Deer Trails & Scent-Work on a Blood Line!
24 hr. Track-Mock Training Line!
One can be a tracker on many different levels.
Train for Success! Training a dog takes a lot of time and patience. Knowing how to get the dog motivated to track and stay with the right line from the beginning really pays off when working with hunters to recover their harvest. The best teacher
is time spent with the dog and a lot of it! Time spent in the field tracking through the season and training the rest of the year. This is what it takes to form a bond. This bond is strengthen and reinforced in life's journey with a K-9 Tracker! Read the book Tracking Dogs for Finding Wounded Deer! by, John Jeanneney
Read the books "John Jeanneney" suggested in the back of his book there is a lot to be learned about tracking with a dog. We suggest you do this From the start in the begging of your training as there is a lot to learn in these pages!
Start the dogs training off right.
Becoming a Blood Tracking Team does not Happen Overnight!
Only through many adventures together in the field will you be a "Handler of a Working Dog"....that tracks!
Take your dog out on as many different excursions as possible. Enriching the dog's environment simply by taking them out with you ever time you can such as scouting, hanging stands and trail cameras or just a walk in the woods any time you can is the best time to have them come along.
This forms a stronger pack relationship. It is in this being seen as a pack leader alpha dog and a member of the pack that is so vital to being a successful working dog team tracking and making a difference in the recovery of game.. Give the dog time to learn you and what it is you want and expect while working in the field!
Use this same time to learn yourself. You need to know the individuals dog style of tracking and the standard of the breed you chose. Some training methods may be different from others. Choose what works best for where you hunt and track. Learning the style of the working dog on a blood line that your dog demonstrates in the field is a handlers job. Getting in the dogs head so to speak. And understanding ! . Learn to read the sign left in the woods from the wildlife. Learn to understand the Habits & Habitats and the wildlife that live there. Keep the training exercises fun as well as challenging. While learning to read your dog in the field you yourself become a student. One that never stops learning as long as you keep trying to have a better understanding of nature & wildlife and how they communicate through olfactory communication. Learn this and more about how weather changes things. Always something to learn about tracking with a dog.
Good luck!.
Field Training through out the year with scent shoes and very little blood is what keeps a tracking dog in tune."Blood Trackers Working Dog, Training" does just that to be the best "N.C.Hound On A Rope" we can be in the field!
Train-to-Track is all about hoping others will learn how to work a dog on a blood trail to help
